Enlisted USMC April 1947. Boot camp Parris Island South Carolina May 1, 1947 - July 26, 1947. Ten days leave. In transit Treasure Island San Francisco California. Left San Francisco August 1947 on USS General Man to Hawaii. In transit Camp Cattlan Pearl Harbor. Pulled targets for Naval officers requalifying. To China September 10, 1947 - March 1949. Guard duty. To Camp Pendleton 'til July 1, 1949. In transit Meri Island Vallejo California. Naval Retraining Command for base guard duty 'til April 1950. Camp Pendleton staging for Korea. Puson Korea 1950. In action 20 days from Puson up to the Mason River. Back to Puson boarded the USS Wantuck. Landing Inchon September 15, 1950. In action to Seoul September 26. Two days R and R. Moved north to 38th Parallel. Relieved by 1st Calvary Division. Back to Inchon October 15. Boarded USS Bear. At sea 'til last of October 1950. Landing at Hungnam about November 5. In action to the Chosin Reservoir. Retreat from Chosin December. Wounded. Shipped to Naval Hospital Japan. Then to Charleston South Carolina for seven months. Back to duty. In transit Naval Sub Base San Diego California. Guard duty. Back to hospital Balboa Naval Hospital San Diego. Surveyed out and discharged November 5, 1951. Medical discharge.
